Vakur from Eichenhof
We are excited to announce that this young man is ready to find his person! Vakur is a nine year old silver dapple Icelandic gelding. He is tall at 14.1 and has an elegant build, with legs for days. He was started as a five year old with 5 months of professional training and has been with us for a couple of years now. He has developed into a true allrounder and does all the things. He is great in the arena and out on the trails. He has great talent for dressage, he is very soft in the contact and responsive on the leg aids. He knows all lateral work and has good quality walk/trot/canter. His tölt is clear 4 beat with good self carriage and available to medium tempo at the moment. With more strength he will be able to go fast tempo tölt easily. He loves going out on trails, by himself or in groups. He loads and trailers very well, he crosses water and has encountered cars, dirt bikes, grouse, deer, hikers, that have him curious and not afraid. He is used to dogs. He ponies like a dream and is great to pony off of as well. He does well with obstacles and is super curious about new things. Here at Vinur Farm he has done many things. He has done lessons (including lunge line seat lessons), was ridden in clinics and camps, went on many trail rides with riders of various experience levels, was in a drill team, has done lots of obstacle work, mounted archery, and of course got further training in dressage, gait training, and all things ground work like lunging, double lunging, ground driving etc.
He has a great personality, loves people, is always ready to work, jumps into the halter, loves going out and exploring. He has medium energy and is very responsive. He never had any health issues, he stands well for the farrier and the vet.
Vakur is American-bred and very talented with good basic gaits, and very nice, clear beat tölt. He deserves to find his very own person now :-) He would make a great dressage horse but also a great trail horse. I think someone who is interested in both would be best for him to really develop him to his full potential. He is not suited for a beginner as he has big movements with impulsion and requires a rider with a decent seat and soft hands. If you are looking for a tall, fun horse in a fancy color who is always ready to go and has tons of potential to do all the things, then don’t wait too long to get in touch!

Mánadís from Wind Mountain

American bred: born 2020 in Washington, our breeding
13.2 hands

5 gaited
Upcoming Allrounder: Talented for dressage, trail riding, obstacles, (Icelandic) Competitions
Curious, loves people

Fun horse all around
Asking price: $12,000+

Mánadís from Wind Mountain
Mánadís, goddess of the moon, was born under the full moon in August 2020. She was our first foal from our stallion Bragi frá Sólheimum. Her dam, Princessa, was the mother to many beautiful and talented riding horses. From day one Mánadís impressed us with her confidence, spirit, and beauty. With her outstanding temperament, correct conformation, and evenly distributed, powerful gaits she is everything we breed for.
She measures 13.2 and has a strong build, good legs and hoofs, is well proportioned and has a broad back.
As a foal she showed all five gaits with plenty of natural tölt with good speed capacity. Her basic gaits are good, she has a bouncy trot and a round, uphill canter.
She was started gently from the ground as a four year old, had a break over the winter and has been back in training since June this year (she turned 5 this August). She had extensive training from the ground with groundwork, lunging, double lunging, ground driving, trailer rides, walks/hikes on and off property, and being ponied in all gaits. She is used to saddle and bridle, accepted both quickly and without any issues.
Mánadís is incredibly smart. She is always ready to work, is very confident and approaches new things boldly and with curiosity. Gentle exposure and obstacle work has her well underway to becoming a solid horse for any situation life will throw at her. She crosses water and bridges, so far we haven't encountered anything that scared her.
She had her first few rides in the bareback pad and saddle and feels strong and balanced already. She is responding well to leg and rein cues and learns quickly how to transfer cues she knows from the ground to the work under saddle. She has never offered to buck or show any other unwanted behavior.
She stands well for farrier and vet, is fine being hosed off, and loves getting in the trailer as it means going on adventures.
Wolf teeth have been pulled before starting any work with the bridle.
We are in absolutely no hurry to sell Mánadís as she is so much fun to have around and work with. However, we can not keep them all and we want to give her plenty of time to find her very own person, so we decided to put her on here early to give people a chance to meet her and be a part of her training as she learns all the things she needs to learn to be a riding horse. She is obviously not ready for a beginner owner as she is young and at the beginning of her riding horse career. She could go to a person who is experienced with riding young horses and enjoys the process of finishing them while building a relationship. She could also go to an experienced rider who has the support from a trainer nearby to continue her education. She is very welcome to stay here for more training as well, of course.
If you are looking for a forward, energetic, confident, young mare with good gaits and lots of tölt, then Mánadís might be for you. We are looking for a shorter/lighter person for her due to her height. We are looking for someone with experience with young horses, who is interested in showing her the world, and who is happy to take her out on trails. She does fine in the arena and loves learning new things, but with her outgoing personality and curiosity she will excel out on the trails.
She just got her first set of shoes, which she handled like a pro, so we are ready to go up in the mountains!
Currently priced at $12,000, her price will increase monthly with more training.

Glóa from Vinur Farm
Glóa was born in June 2021 as the first foal on this property after we moved to Trout Lake. She grew up at Vinur Farm and watched the farm grow and develop into what it is today. Her sire is our stallion Bragi frá Sólheimum. Her dam, Grímhildur frá Árbakka is the mother to many beautiful and talented riding horses. From day one Glóa impressed us with her confidence, calmness, and beauty. With her outstanding temperament, correct conformation, and evenly distributed, powerful gaits she is everything we breed for.
She measures 14.1 hands at the moment and has a strong, yet elegant build, long legs, and is very well proportioned. She has always been surprisingly balanced in her body through all her growth spurts.
Since being a foal she has been showing all five gaits with plenty of natural tölt with good speed capacity. Her basic gaits are excellent, she has a big trot and a round, uphill canter.
She is 4 years old and will be started gently from the ground this winter. She will learn all her groundwork, lunging, double lunging, ground driving, and being ponied in all gaits. She will get used to saddle and bridle, and be ready to start under saddle next spring. She has excellent manners, stands for the farrier and vet, loads into the trailer easily, leads well, loves to explore and play with obstacles.
Glóa is a sweetheart. She got her dam's kindness and her sire's strength and seems to be a perfect combination of both. She will be able to do anything in life. We want to see her go to someone who has the ability to start her themselves or has the willingness to work with an experienced Icelandic horse trainer, so that she will have a chance to develop to her full potential.
Currently priced at $15,000 to reflect her quality, her price will increase with more training.

Youngster:
Gaja from Vinur Farm

American bred: born 2024 in Washington, our breeding
13.3 hands, will get over 14hh
Black
5 gaited
Upcoming Allrounder: Talented for dressage, trail riding, obstacles, (Icelandic) Competitions, future brood mare, excellent blood lines

Brave, confident
Fun horse all around
Asking price: $10,000+

Gaja from Vinur Farm
Gaja, Mother Earth, was born in the morning of July 2nd 2024, so she is currently 1 1/2 years old and very well developed. Gaja is a full sister to Glóa from Vinur Farm. Her sire is our stallion Bragi frá Sólheimum. Her dam, Grímhildur frá Árbakka is the mother to many beautiful and talented riding horses.
From day one Gaja impressed us with her confidence, correct conformation, and evenly distributed, powerful gaits.
She measures 13.3 hands at the moment and will easily grow over 14 hands. She has the same strong, yet elegant build that her older sister has, with long legs, and excellent proportions. Like Glóa she has always been surprisingly balanced in her body through all her growth spurts.
Since being a foal she has been showing all five gaits with plenty of natural tölt with good speed capacity. Her basic gaits are excellent, she has a big trot and a round, uphill canter.
Being a youngster, Gaja spends most of her time eating, napping, running, and playing with her siblings and herd mates. Our young horses grow up in herds of mixed ages. We strongly believe this is important to their mental development as they learn from the older horses what is appropriate and what isn't while having other youngsters of similar age to play with. Gaja has a big personality, yet has good manners around people, stands for the farrier and vet, leads well, and loves to explore and play with obstacles.
Gaja will be able to do anything in life. She has the height, temperament, conformation, and gaits to become a fantastic riding horse for any discipline, and the blood lines to become a brood mare down the road. We want to see her go to someone who has experience with young horses, the ability to start her themselves or has the willingness to work with an experienced Icelandic horse trainer when the time comes, so that she will have a chance to develop to her full potential. She will have to go somewhere with other Icelandic horses and appropriate space and care requirements for a young horse to develop physically and mentally sound.
Currently priced at $10,000 to reflect her quality, her price will increase as she gets older and starts training.
